Special Election for State Rep: a Note on Jim Headd

New Hampshire voters in Auburn, Chester, and Sandown (Rockingham County district 4) will go to the polls tomorrow, September 26, for a special election to fill a state representative seat. Among the candidates is former state representative Jim Headd. An alert Leaven for the Loaf reader reminded me of an event I covered three years ago, at which Mr. Headd was a speaker.

Jim Headd (in white shirt), speaking at an August 2014 pro-life rally at the State House in Concord. At right is former NHGOP chairman Jack Kimball.

At that time, Mr. Headd said this: “God gave us life from the moment of conception until the time of natural death, and I vow to you that’s how I will vote.”

I have not spoken to Mr. Headd since that time, and I have not interviewed either of his 2017 opponents. I offer his 2014 remark for what it’s worth. My thanks to the faithful reader who recalled the post from three years ago.

[Update: Mr. Headd did not prevail in the September 2017 race, losing 901-862 to a Democratic challenger, with 41 votes going to a Libertarian candidate according to preliminary returns.]
